The Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad is hosting an Open House for interested high school students and their parents on October 25th at 7:30pm, in preparation for the opening of Cadet Program Applications. Eligible applicants will be high school sophomores that will be entering their junior year in the Fall of 2024, 16 years of age by April 1, 2024 and must be willing to take the EMT certification class during the summer of 2024.
The BHVRS Cadet program is a great opportunity for high school age students to give back to their community and help out their neighbors. It is also an opportunity for students considering a career in medicine to get first-hand experience interacting and assisting with patients. Cadets will be initially trained in CPR and first aid and will ride on the ambulance, assisting the EMTs in patient care. From there, they will enroll in an EMT certification class to become NJ certified EMTs.
