Tonight, the squad was honored with a proclamation at the Town Council Meeting for the delivery of beautiful baby Ava!

House Fire
The BHVRS responded with BHPD and BHFD to a structure fire this morning around 1am. BHVRS had two rigs respond to treat and transport two patients and a third patient was treated and transported by Watchung EMS.
Chatham EMS transported 2 firefighters with minor injuries. Summit, Long Hill, & County EMS were all on scene, along with Atlantic paramedics, an Atlantic Supervisor and the County EMS coordinator. BHVRS was on scene until about 4.30am when firefighter rehab was complete. A huge thank you to all of the other EMS units that’s responded in for mutual aid!

Mother Delivers Healthy Baby Girl with Help from BHVRS
On March 10 Angela Windt went into labor two weeks early. She realized her contractions were progressing too quickly and she wasn’t going to make it to the hospital.
Thanks to the quick response of the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad and three Berkeley Heights police officers, there were no complications with the home delivery. The Friday Night Crew, Andy Damato, Joe Plocinski, Nicole Segalini and Chief Sam Lloyd ensured that the delivery went smoothly and Ava was born at 9:42 p.m weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and 20 inches long.
This is the first birth for the Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad in over 20 years.

Annual Installation and Awards Dinner
This weekend the squad had its annual Installation and Awards Dinner. We want to say a big thank you to last year’s officers for their hard work and dedication. We cannot wait to see what is in store for or new officers.
Congratulations to the recipients of our Chief and President’s Awards!! Joe and Annette, we would not be the same squad without all of the time, effort, and dedication you give to us. Thank you for everything!

Rest in Peace, Abbie.
