Today, members of the squad and other EMTs came together to finish up our last EMT certification refresher course. We practiced our trauma skills and worked with pieces of equipment that we don’t use on a daily basis. These are some of the happiest car accident patients we’ve ever seen! 😀 If you want to join in on the fun, reach out to us on Facebook or check out the membership section of the website!
Last week the squad volunteered for SAGE Eldercare and delivered and packaged meals for elderly people in Berkeley Heights. It is the 50th anniversary or Sage Eldercare serving our community, so we teamed up with them to celebrate! We had a great time working with the people at Sage Eldercare and meeting people in our community!
In late February, the BHVRS had the pleasure of having Brownie Troop 40136 and Girl Scout Troop 40538 at the squad to help them earn their first aid badge. The girls learned all about what the BHVRS does, toured the ambulances, and made their own first aid kits. Congratulations on gaining your First Aid Badge, girls!
Emergencies happen when you least expect it. Use the health app on your iPhone to record your medications, allergies, emergency contacts, and personal information. This allows emergency personnel to access your information if there is no family or friends around and without going through your phone! This is an incredible tool that everyone should use because without all of this information it becomes a challenge to help people. Take advantage of the free apps that Apple makes you keep on your phone!
Early this morning, 961 responded to a house fire on New Providence Berkeley Heights border for fire rehab. New Providence EMS was on scene upon arrival, so our crew assisted with the rehab and stood by in case a patient needed to be transported to the hospital. Great job by Berkeley Heights Fire Department and New Providence Volunteer Fire Department getting everyone out safely!
