Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad to Host Adult and Cadet Open House
The Berkeley Heights Volunteer Rescue Squad will host an Open House on Thursday, October 29, 2026 welcoming both prospective adult and student volunteers. The adult volunteer session will run from 6:00–7:30 p.m., followed by a Cadet Program Information Session at 7:30 p.m. for high school students and their parents.
The evening will give attendees an opportunity to meet current members, tour the squad, learn about volunteering and get a firsthand look at the training and opportunities available. Our Cadet Program offers high school students hands-on experience in emergency medical services and the opportunity to work toward becoming EMTs.
To be eligible for the Cadet Program, students must be at least 16 years old by June 1, 2027, and currently enrolled in high school. A parent or guardian must attend the Information Session with the student. Cadets who are accepted into the program will take their EMT certification course in the Summer of 2027.
Our Cadet Program is very popular, and each year we receive more applications than there are available spots. The squad accepts applications from high school students only during this limited annual application window which will close in December 2026. Interested students are strongly encouraged to attend the October 29 Information Session.
Cadet Program applications will open following the Open House. Questions via email may be directed to: cadet.advisor@bhvrs.org.
